To work with a team of clinicians and nurses to help in diagnosing, sometimes providing therapies to help with treatment and providing a wide range of health promotion prior to discharge.

Successful candidate must be in possession of a NMC PIN .

Main duties of the job

The endoscopy nurse will admit, assist the clinician in the procedure room, recover and discharge the patient.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To admit, recover, assist the clinicians in the procedure room and discharge patients. Nurses also provide a wide range of information on health promotion.

Successful candidate must have a valid PIN from the NMC and endoscopy experience with competencies to work in the procedure rooms.

Experience

  • Must have knowledge of working in Endoscopy
  • Awareness of current professional nursing issues
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of infection control standards
  • Demonstrates understanding of the importance of audit/quality


Skills and aptitudes

Essential

  • Knowledge of endoscopy instruments and equipment
  • Understanding of proper positioning techniques in endoscopy
  • Knowledge of endoscopy procedures
  • Understanding of how the BSG/ JAG guidelines influence practice
  • Be able to assist the clinician in the endoscopy theatre
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload especially in admissions, recovery and the endoscopy theatres
  • Proven communication skills and ability to negotiate
  • Aware of quality and safety standards and endoscopy audit requirements
  • To maintain a safe clinical environment conducive to patient care
  • To complete competencies relating to speciality within an agreed timeline.
