Are you passionate about training, educating and empowering staff to care for their patients within our neonatal unit?

To support staff to deliver high quality effective care for patients thus improving the patients' experience and contribute to the development of programmes of education and training, whilst demonstrating awareness of cultural diversity in the workplace and the need to adapt training accordingly within our 29 bedded neonatal unit.

Main duties of the job

Ability to be a clinical support and act as a resource to colleagues whilst supporting the Matron, Ward Manager and Neonatal Clinical Educator with the identification, planning, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of educational opportunities, programmes and activities for the whole MDT.

To work together with neonatal staff in order for them to achieve their full potential and clinical effectiveness and promoting teamwork within an educational environment, leading and reinforcing the values and standards of compassion and respect in care, demonstrating critical analysis and decision-making skills, leading the delivery of a clinically and educationally excellent, high quality service influencing and facilitating change within directorate and where appropriate the organisation.

The post holder will provide specialist advice in relation to patient care as part of educational activity whilst working across the service with the Neonatal Clinical Educator to develop strategies for education and training within the Neonatal Service supporting change management and to support opportunities for learning in all clinical areas of the Neonatal Service.

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

    • Significant Critical Care experience in a neonatal unit
    • Leading change in practice
    • Delivering education and training within clinical settings and identifying/supporting staff training needs
    • Effective working with Multidisciplinary Team
    • Supervising and supporting the development of a wide range of clinical staff
    • Responding to unexpected patient activity, demand and changing clinical status of individual neonates.
    • Recent experience of supporting nursing staff in the NNU


    Desirable

    • Experience of change management
    • Experience of Clinical Audit
    • Deliver training within classroom settings.
    • Policy/guidelines writing


    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Registered Nurse (level 1)
    • Post registration qualification in specialty
    • Educated to postgraduate diploma/degree level
    • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
    • Neonatal Life support certificate


    Desirable

    • Generic Instructor Course Instructor
    • Neonatal Life Support Instructor
    • Postgraduate teaching qualification
