  • The post holder will be responsible for: leading on Phase One, providing placement experiences for college students and trainees and managing and evaluating the work of The Academy. Phase Two, extending Phase One to include other college partners, provide mental health curriculum development and education expertise to colleges to develop new courses.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Nursing Research, Education and Development to hep develop and deliver the trusts new academy agenda.


Main duties of the job

  • Lead on agreed aspects of the continuing development of the Health and Care Academy - continue Phase One to provide 'insight' placements for further education college students and trainees.
  • Scope and map access programmes and potential for new programmes.
  • Develop new and innovative placement experiences for students and trainees studying at one of our local partner further education
  • Prepare Band 3 senior support workers to mentor further education college students and trainees on placement.
  • Prepare high quality project reports.
  • Work closely with the Director of Nursing Research, Education and Development to provide day-to-day professional nurse leadership.
  • Contribute to multi-professional education
  • The post holder will work across the Trust to provide nurse education leadership.
  • Ensure that the highest standards of training and education are aspired to and achieved
  • Report to the Lead Nurse for CPD
  • Provide curriculum expertise to college partners
  • Line manage the Band 6 practice educator (support workers).

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Registered Nurse
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • Qualified teacher/relevant teaching qualification for nurses
  • Completion of Nurse Assessor Course
  • Meet NMC requirement for maintenance of registration including revalidation
Desirable
  • Post qualification study to Master's level (or equivalent)
Knowledge/Experience Essential
  • Extensive experience as an operational or clinical manager
  • Extensive experience of teaching in a clinical setting
  • Evidence of involvement in curriculum development
  • Demonstration of personal development
  • Evidence of developed teaching skills with experience of teaching at pre and post registration degree level
  • Experience of classroom teaching
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge and understanding of nurse education and nurse education practice
  • Experience of performance management
  • Experience of staff management
  • Demonstration of collaborative working with Multi professional teams /other services
  • Evidence of ability to work in partnership with university and/or further education college colleagues
  • Evidence of multi-professional training delivery
