Exciting Opportunity: Band 7 Bleep Holder/Site Coordinator Midwife (Full Time, Fixed term 1 year)

We are thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated midwife to join our Bleep Holder/ Maternity Site Coordinator Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Hospital. As a Bleep Holder Midwife, you will practice autonomously, ensuring that women, birthing persons, babies, and their families receive the necessary support for optimal outcomes and positive experiences. You should be educated to degree level, with a strong interest in patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical development. Experience in mentorship, Examination of the new-born (NIPE), and familiarity with research-based evidence and guidelines are also essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Required to work on a rotational rota of both long day, night and weekend shifts you will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the pregnant woman/ birthing persons journey through maternity services
  • The post holder will support the Matrons, Lead midwives and HoM, providing senior oversight to ensure patient and staff safety and care is delivered optimally.
  • You will lead and co-ordinate the twice daily maternity safety huddles and participate in the trust site capacity call out of hours
  • You will work in line with the maternity escalation policy and OPELMF framework
  • You will coordinate the QCCH maternity response in the event of a trust major incident and also attend and support maternity emergency calls on the QCCH or HH site.
  • Ensure safe and effective clinical practice in self-ensuring knowledge, skills and competencies are current and act as clinical expert to disseminate specialist skills and knowledge to others.
  • Enhance the woman's experience of care and ensure that the needs of the woman are placed at the centre of care delivery.

Education/ qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • SSSA Practice Assessor/ Mentorship qualification
  • NIPE qualification


Desirable

  • NLS course
  • Master's degree or working towards


Skills/knowledge/ abilities

Essential

  • Ability to practice clinically in all areas of a fully integrated maternity service.
  • High-level decision-making and organisational skills.
  • Clinically competent with a range of skills e.g. cannulation, perineal suturing and water births.
  • Working knowledge of OPEL Framework


Desirable

  • Theatre scrubbing


Experience

Essential

  • 3 or more years' experience as a band 6 midwife
  • Knowledge and experience of using Datix system
  • Knowledge and experience of risk management


Desirable

  • Evidence of initiating and implementing change processes.
