Work with the Research Team to support the safe conduct of research in accordance with the UK Clinical Trials Regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and provide assurance that the rights, safety and well-being of trial participants are protected. The post holder will provide the key link between the Radiotherapy Service and the Oncology Clinical Trials team and is responsible for the promotion, implementation, and coordination of clinical trials for radiotherapy patients.
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking, co-ordinating and driving a team in the recruitment of patients to clinical trials for radiotherapy patients. The post holder will work closely with all members of the wider multi-disciplinary team, including the Lead Clinician, the Radiotherapy Services Manager, Oncologists, Radiotherapy Physics, and the Oncology Clinical Trials team, to provide a thorough, high quality and efficient service encompassing all aspects of radiotherapy treatment delivery and patient care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with the team lead to develop and grow the research portfolio across their designated speciality area. The post holder will also be expected to cross cover with the other sub team lead during times of absence or annual leave. The post will involve, managing and coordinating, clinical trials collaboratively with the research & multidisciplinary teams. Be accountable for the assessment, planning, organisation, and on-going care of research participants, whilst maximising compliance with study/trial protocol.
As a specialist role the post holder will provide, expert direction, support, supervision, and management of staff. They will assist with the training of staff to ensure they conform to protocol and practice guidelines. The role will be key in problem solving and solution driving issues, to ensure research is conducted safely, effectively, and efficiently by all members of their team. Use relevant knowledge to perform research procedures in accordance with study protocols and extend this experience to support others in the research team and other health care professionals where appropriate. The post holder will co-ordinate our services with various healthcare partners, in various hospitals/settings, therefore there is a need to be geographically mobile and work out of hours if required by protocol. The post holder will co-ordinate their team to meet local targets and meet departmental objectives.
