A Corporate Governance Officeris required by North Bristol NHS Trust, one of the largest hospital trusts in the UK. You'll work within the Corporate Governance team based in Trust Headquarters with a salary from £29,970 to £36,483 and a range of NHS benefits, starting on 27 days Annual Leave + bank holidays and an excellent pension.

Main duties of the job

THE ROLE:As Corporate Governance Officer, you will act as the interface between Executive Directors, Trust Board and Committee meetings and the rest of the hospital. Your duties will include:
  • Providing a professional and high-quality administrative service that ensures the effective and efficient running of the Trust Board Sub-Committees and the Trust Leadership Team.
  • Acting as Secretary for meetings, drafting agendas, collating papers, and producing comprehensive formal minutes.
  • Coordinating the identification and recording of actions and supporting the senior Directors to take them forward to timely completion.

  • The ability and confidence to engage with a diverse group of stakeholders to build effective relationships both within and outside of the organisation

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified to degree level or evidence of equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Relevant training qualification within project or administration (e.g. ILM level 3)


Experience

Essential

  • Formal minute-taking experience, ideally at Board or committee level
  • Experience of working in a role with a focus on good record keeping where a high level of attention to detail was required.
  • Excellent IT skills in SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Outlook E-mail, PowerPoint and Excel, including use of electronic diary
  • Able to demonstrate a record of achievement in delivering specific pieces of work on time that met requirements
  • Experience of working with a range of people in different roles and at different levels of seniority
  • Working in a highly pressurised environment where priorities shift constantly
  • Strong typing/word processing skills
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work to very tight deadlines and manage conflicting demands whilst providing excellent customer service
  • Demonstrate resilience, patience and pragmatism


Desirable

  • Experience of working in a corporate governance team or remit
  • Experience of working in an executive team environment supporting individual projects and administration
  • Experience of working in a project management or change management environment


Knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced administrative and secretarial skills, including preparation of agendas and minute taking at meetings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NHS/public sector governance processes and regulatory environment
  • Problem solving: Planning and prioritising own workload, exercise judgement when dealing with senior managers or external contacts. Exercise judgement in drafting routine correspondence and editing documents to ensure grammar, spelling and formatting are correct.
  • Ability to respond to last-minute changes effectively, calmly and politely and to make swift, sound decisions and reprioritise rigorously
  • Good presentational skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to provide and understand complex information
  • Ability to negotiate with and motivate staff to facilitate delivery
  • Ability to communicate complex sensitive information to diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to plan events and elements of projects across different hospital sites/teams/services
  • Ability to analyse a range of facts or situations, requiring comparison of a range of options and data
  • Attention to detail and an ability to provide information at a high standard
  • Excellent keyboard/IT skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and act on own initiative within the remit of the job description and guidance from team members and senior colleagues
