Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist - Adult Learning Disability Band 7We are recruiting for a Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist in Shropshire, to provide clinical advice and support to staff working within the CLDT (35 hours per week).The post holder will lead a high quality Speech and Language Therapy service for adults with learning disabilities who are referred to the Shropshire Community Learning Disabilities Team (CLDT). Main duties of the job
To provide clinical advice and support to staff working within the CLDT.
To manage a small caseload and to support the SaLT team in case management and ensure the provision of appropriate clinical supervision.
To ensure there is accountability regarding the community caseload and current waiting list.
To liaise closely with AHP Professional Lead and Clinical Team lead to provide seamless service across the Specialist LD directorate.

Job responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership and clinical advice providing a visible point of call for SaLTs to go to regarding clinical issues. To ensure there is accountability regarding the community caseload and current waiting list. To hold a small caseload. To support members of the SaLT Team through clinical supervision. To provide advice to ensure that MDT decision making is in line with clinical processes. To work closely with the operational manager to advise on clinical performance issues for the CLDT as appropriate and work supportively with other Clinical Lead SaLTs across the Directorate to ensure a seamless service. To work with CEG leads to ensure recommendations of the four CEGs are followed through into Practice. Work closely with other professional leads to address and progress any issues highlighted. To ensure the quality of care received by people with learning disabilities is appropriate to meet their needs highlighting gaps where necessary. To possess a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, including DOLS and its interface with the Mental Health Act 1983. To support the implementation of the CPA approach within the directorate to ensure health needs of service users are identified and met appropriately. To support the seamless implementation of local and regional care pathways and processes and to contribute to the formulation, development and implementation of care pathways involving adult learning disability placement services. To attend reviews with other professionals from within health & social care to ensure health needs of service users are identified and met appropriately. To assist with the interface between the Intensive Support Team (IST), Intensive Health Outreach Team (IHOT), Specialist Community LD services and teams, primary and secondary health-care and family or residential homes in relation to individual service users care. Liaise with Professional Leads to ensure the Adult Learning Disability Services provide high quality of learning environments for all student and trainees clinical placements as required. Influence best practice by providing advice on a range of SaLT issues to ensure health care needs are met appropriately and effectively and to ensure outcomes achieved in a timely and appropriate manner. To report any concerns relating to client care through appropriate channels e.g. Provider, Care Quality Commission, adult protection, local authority and line manager. *Please see the attached Job Description/Person Specification for further details.*
