This is a great opportunity for a highly skilled Systemic Family Psychotherapist to join a well-established and experienced Neds Adult Eating Disorders Team.

The post holder will need a sound knowledge and experience of the needs of adults and their families who present with a significant eating disorder and how to apply systemic practice in their treatment. The evidence-based intervention is FT-AN and it would be helpful for the post holder to have knowledge of this intervention.

The post holder will work alongside colleagues within the MDT to provide evidence-based treatment to the adults and families throughout Nottingham city and Nottinghamshire county who present with a significant eating disorder. The MDT meet on a weekly basis to consider referrals into the team; discuss assessments and for complex case discussion, of which the post holder will contribute to this and bring their systemic expertise to support the team processes and reflections.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will offer specialist assessment and treatment for adults who present with a significant eating disorder. They will provide liaison, consultation and support to other agencies and work closely with our partners and inpatient units. The post holder will be supported to take on a leadership role to ensure service development and provide leadership cover when required to support the service lead. They will offer support and supervision to more junior colleagues, students, and trainees, in return the post holder will receive systemic supervision from colleagues within the Trust.

NEDs in Nottinghamshire are developing an exciting Systemic Family Psychotherapy offer with opportunities to develop and access further training, such as systemic supervision. Colleagues within the Trust are offering a 'live training team opportunity' for those currently undertaking the MSc in Systemic Family Psychotherapy. Within the Trust we have a reading group for those interested in systemic thinking and practice and now have colleagues who have completed the CYP IAPT SFP training. The service is involved in developing 'Family Therapy Training Posts' and it is hoped that the post holder will be able to contribute to the training programme and help colleagues understand the importance of systemic thinking and practice, particularly within the field of Eating Disorders

Role Purpose:

To provide highly specialist systemic psychotherapy service to adults referred the Nottinghamshire Eating Disorders service (NEDS). To ensure direct specialist assessment and therapy for adults and families. Providing family therapy and systemic advice, consultation and clinical supervision for a range of team members. To undertake clinically relevant research/audit and specific clinical activity or lead roles that support the Team Leads in developing the service.

Role Context:

The post holder will work within the Nottinghamshire Healthcare specialist NEDs Eating Disorders (ED) Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) as advertised. The post requires close liaison with a broad range of other disciplines and agencies including health, education, social services, voluntary agencies, and care systems. A key aspect of this post will be to provide support through supervision and consultation to staff within the team and across other services. The post holder works autonomously within UKCP registration and Association for Family Therapy (AFT) guidance and the overall framework of the NEDs MDT service policies and procedures.

• Relevant practice in first profession plus clinical experience as above.
• Experience of working with adults,children, young people who have mental health difficulties/diagnoses and their families

• Experience of maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse
• Experience of working in a family therapy setting or service and reflecting team approach.
• Experience of consultation and or training to primary care/ other staff supporting adults,children and their families
