Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust - Forensic and Secure Services, would like to present a wonderful opportunity for someone with passion and experience to join our team. Within Secure and Forensic services, we see ourselves as progressive, creative, and always looking at how to improve. This is a service which has received excellent internal and external feedback. We wish to recruit a Matron to work within our services and to be part of our already established team of outstanding practitioners.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic, energised individual who will be excited to be part of our wider MDT. We want someone with a keen eye and a focus on embedding a cohesive culture around quality and safety. Someone who puts excellent patient care at the heart of what they do will fit well with our recovery focused ethos. This role requires you to be part of the developing Nursing strategy which includes a lead role in workforce development, wellbeing and equality and diversity programs.

We need a strong and proven leader who can take responsibility for decisions and will be actively involved in the support and development of the team and will work within the wider network.

We are looking for someone who can communicate and collaborate in a professional manner with a wide spectrum of people, to achieve the best outcomes for patients whilst raising the standard of the service.

Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills are a must for this role as you will be working in environments where creativity on how to approach situations is key.

This is an exciting time to join NSFT Secure & Forensic Services as we commit to developing strong clinical leads as part of our nursing strategy. As a care group we have great aspirations to be one of the best Forensic services in the Country. We will facilitate and enable you use your skills providing support and opportunities for career progression whist supporting an award winning male low secure unit and forensic community team in Suffolk.

We have welcomed and embraced working with Quality Improvement methodology. Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust are committed to Quality Improvement (QI) and have paired up with East London Foundation Trust to train and develop our staff in the understating of QI and how to implement this on our wards. We are currently part of several QI collaboratives which have had significant impact on raising standards and improving safety.

Skills
Essential
  • A proven record of success in managing significant operational / strategic change whilst also developing and maintaining the provision of a high quality service, within a clinical setting, with multidisciplinary teams
  • Promote, monitor and maintain best practice in health, safety and security
  • Ability to help develop a culture that improves quality in service areas

Experience
Essential
  • Significant experience working within and managing mental health clinical services
  • Significant general and operational management experience to include the management of a large multi-disciplinary group of staff - part of which to have been in the NHS
  • Demonstrable experience of relationship management with external regulatory bodies

Desirable
  • Extensive experience of managing services at a senior level
  • Working in mental health

Qualifications
Essential
  • First level nurse with current NMC registration UK.
  • Post-graduate training or experience of leadership / management.

Desirable
  • Registered nurse adult

Knowledge
Essential
  • Good working knowledge of wider health and social care system and structures, policies, procedures and legislation relevant to services areas.
  • Knowledge of management tools, organisational systems and processes relevant to managing in an NHS organisation

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people. We are a large organisation covering a wide geographical area divided into ‘Care Groups'. There are also Care Groups supporting children, family and young people’s services, and specialist services, including Forensic mental health services.

Each Care Group has its own Leadership team, with the aim of supporting clinically led decision making locally, to support the needs of people accessing services.
