We are looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic nurses to join our nursing team. We have a permenant Band 5 Staff Nurse position in John Hunter Clinic for Sexual Health & Kobler Outpatients Clinic.
You should be motivated, enthusiastic and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work with a diverse range of clients in an innovative sexual health and HIV outpatients setting.
You must have a ' can do 'attitude and be passionate about providing a high standard of patient care and you will be part of a team of nurses responsible for delivering a high standard of patient care at all times.
You will be fully trained in all our core competencies relevant to Sexual health and HIV care.

Main duties of the job
To maintain and deliver a high standard of nursing care, demonstrating a professional and ethical responsibility To build on clinical experience, leadership and teaching skills through nursing practice To demonstrate a commitment to the mentorship of pre and post registration learners To be involved in the development and implementation of outreach work and other service developments To act as a coordinator of the clinic in the absence of a senior member of the nursing team

Job responsibilities
To assess individual patient needs and requirements without supervision
To plan, implement, and evaluate relevant programmes of care for individual patients within the clinics guidelines
To be competent in the following, with appropriate training:
o Venepuncture
o Microscopy
o Sexual Health screening
o Vaccinations for Hepatitis A & B, HPV and MPOX
o Dispensing medications under a patient group direction (PGD)
o Provide basic information around reproductive health choices and supply Emergency Contraception under PGD
o Providing HIV related care to stable patients in an outpatient setting.
To facilitate effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure appropriate nursing input into patient care discussions
To take an active part in the development and implementation of clinical audit and research
To be competent to supply and administer medications under a Patient Group Direction
To maintain clear and accurate documentation in line with unit and Trust standards
To be aware of all the Directorate and Trust Policies and Guidelines and ensure all actions are carried out accordingly
To demonstrate appropriate counselling skills when working with patients
To order investigations and provide test results to patients as per clinic protocols
To be competent in the Triage of emergency patients according to directorate-wide guidelines
To work in an outreach setting as required
Advise on the promotion of health and the prevention of illness, with particular reference to smoking cessation, diet, immunisations and sexual health and HIV
Support patients around adherence and understanding their HIV medication
