Are you ready to make a tangible impact on the lives of people in Lambeth? South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (SLaM) are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Short Term Support services team and be the heart of our community mental health services.

The Short-Term Support services offer assessments and brief interventions to residents in the Borough of Lambeth aged 18 and over.

The Lambeth Living Well Network (LWN) Alliance brings together Certitude, Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group, Lambeth Council, South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and Thames Reach organisations to deliver an innovative way of providing mental health support for those who need it in the Lambeth Borough a fully integrated and coordinated mental health system which focuses on people's strengths and supports their whole health and wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

What we're looking for:
  • A registered Mental Health Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker.
  • Strong assessment and intervention skills with a focus on recovery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with service users and their families.
  • A commitment to teamwork and collaboration within the MDT
  • Most of all, someone who is values driven, passionate about Mental Health and keen to make a difference within our community.

A key part of this role will be managing a varied caseload in the Short-Term Support team, ensuring a timely, safe, effective and responsive service delivery in line with the LWN Alliance three big outcomes for people living in Lambeth who experience mental distress:
  • To recover and stay well

  • To participate on an equal footing in daily life.

    Job responsibilities

    Registered Mental Health Nurse/ Occupational Therapist or Social Worker and/or Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse

    Mentorship qualification or equivalent

    Experience of research- based/reflective practice, e.g. understanding and ability to use supervision to reflect on skills

    Significant relevant clinical experience

    Evidence of continuing professional Development.

    Able to provide quality care that is responsive to service users needs, without close supervision

    Skills in clinical assessment/baseline mental health assessment

    Knowledge of clinical governance and audit

    Understanding of Care Coordination

    Essential

    • Registered Mental Health Nurse/ Occupational Therapist or Social Worker and/or Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse
    • Mentorship qualification or equivalent


    Desirable

    • Master's degree


    Experience and Knowledge

    • Significant relevant clinical experience
    • Evidence of continuing professional development
    • Knowledge of clinical governance and audit
    • Understanding of Care Co-ordination

    • Experience of working in the community
    • Experience of managing a caseload

    • Skills in clinical assessment/baseline mental health assessment
    • Skills in risk assessment and risk management and crisis management

    • Skilled in supervision of others, and in providing critical and constructive feedback
