Working closely with other professionals in the team, the post holders will work across traditional age barriers to provide a liaison service that is inclusive of all adults aged 18 and over, whilst being supported to develop expert skills in specific areas of liaison. This post will be supported by a clinical team consisting of psychiatrists, psychology, and associate nurse consultants. The service operates 7 days a week over 24 hours, therefore unsocial hours, including night duty is an expectation of this post.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disability Nurse and have ENB 998 / C& G 730 or equivalent. Additionally, you should have evidence of continual professional learning relevant to the post.

Experience with patients with Dementia and/or self harm behaviour, patients in crisis, and skills in CBT and Brief Solution Focused Therapy would be an advantage.

You will require excellent communication skills and be able to work under pressure.

18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework) is essential.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council. RMNH/RNLD
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within 6 months
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision OR willingness to work towards within 6 months


Experience

Essential

  • 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework)
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.
  • Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate
  • Supervising or assessing students on practice placement
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Quality improvement activities


Desirable

  • Recent experience nursing across a range of settings e.g. acute hospitals, mental health units, care homes etc and including adults and older people.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
  • Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Governance and its application in practice
  • Research and development methodology.
  • Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment.
  • Working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections


Desirable

  • The Trust's Quality Improvement System (QIS)
