The Library Manager is responsible for the strategic development of the knowledge and library service at the largest Mental Health Trust in the West Midlands, providing evidence-based services and information resources for evidence-informed patient care. The post holder will ensure that service development is aligned with the strategic priorities and research outcomes of the organisation, and with the 'Knowledge for Healthcare' strategic framework for NHS knowledge and library services in England. The Post holder will ensure that a comprehensive Trust wide service is provided, and will maintain two on site libraries based at the Uffculme and the Barberry.
Supported by a Deputy Library Manager, the post holder will be responsible for a team of six, including two qualified librarian.
A proven leader, the post holder will be an experienced post qualified library manager, with knowledge of or a desire to lean about the knowledge mobilisation requirements in NHS mental health services.
Main duties of the job
In addition to the strategic responsibility to develop and maintain a robust knowledge and library service, the post holder is responsible for supporting departments and teams to make best use of knowledge and evidence to underpin effective decision making, policy and practice, through knowledge mobilisation activities. Providing properly equipped learning facilities and study spaces for staff, trainees and students to advance their education and professional development. Developing and sustaining collaborative internal and external partnerships to support service delivery and quality improvement.

Essential
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Management or a relevant information sciences discipline.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
- Chartered membership of CILIP Library and Information Association (or working towards).
Experience

- Significant post-qualifying experience managing an NHS library service or an academic or specialist research library.
- Significant experience of line managing a team, and of HR and recruitment process.

- Experience of working in a mental health information service.

- Advanced evidence searching skills and awareness of evidence-based practice.
