Charge Nurse - Astley Court
*£6000 Recruitment/Retention Payment
The Role
HPFT is committed to investing in and developing staff. We are now able to recruit additional experienced registered nurses to the team at the Astley Court, Little Plumstead Hospital, Norfolk, NR13 5EW. We are looking for Learning Disabilities Nurses and Mental Health Nurses to join our hard working and committed team.
As a Charge Nurse you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of a learning disability assessment and treatment service and will assist the Team Leader in maintaining effective team working processes. Charge Nurses must be able to exercise a considerable degree of initiative, possess mature judgment and maintain a calm, friendly and efficient manner when dealing with patients, their relatives, colleagues, and visitors.
The post involves 24-hour rotation. We offer extra payments for unsocial hours worked and a recruitment and retention premium (RRP) of £6,000 per year on top of the Band 6 salary (subject to terms and conditions).

Main duties of the job
1 Clinical & Job Responsibilities1.1 Will function as a supervisor to named nurse as allocated, takingresponsibility for ensuring that named nurses formulate appropriatecare plans.1.2 Will ensure all staff are fully conversant with all aspects regarding theservice user's care and treatment.1.3 Will identify the individual care needs of allocated service users, plan,implement and evaluate all care programmes in conjunction with theunit's nursing team and the MDT.1.4 Will maintain close liaison with all department\staff involved in a serviceuser's care and report on progress and effectiveness to the MDT.1.5 Will participate in ward rounds, case conference, etc and will preparereports on service users as required.1.6 Will be aware of all policy documents and legal requirementsconcerning the unit and ensure that these are adhered to, eg MHA,administration of drugs and implement appropriately.1.7 Will demonstrate and serve as an example for all clinical activities toappropriate grades of staff.1.8 Will be fully conversant and ensure compliance with NMC codes ofconduct and practice, relevant legislation and policies and procedures.1.9.1 To participate in assessment, with management, care planning, andreview of all individuals referred to unit as appropriate, with the relevantdisciplines.NB: The post holder is required to maintain current registration with theNMC.
