We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join the well established multi-disciplinary Adult Neuro-developmental team, based at Ash Green, Chesterfield, covering the North Derbyshire geographical area.

The Adult Neuro-developmental service within DCHS is staffed by a dedicated team and we are looking for a like-minded Physiotherapist to join us.

Our Multidisciplinary Team comprises of community nurses, psychologists, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and Psychiatrists.

We work collaboratively to meet the health needs of people with a learning disability living in North Derbyshire.

If you can demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility and are able to plan and deliver high quality, person centred, evidence based clinical care, we would very much like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

As a Specialist Physiotherapist the post holder will be required to:

Provide specialist assessment, treatment, advice and education for clients with a learning disability.

Provide assessment and recommendations on 24 hour postural management for individuals with complex physical disabilities.

Work closely with a variety of service providers and agencies throughout the Derbyshire to provide an holistic approach to the treatment of adults with a learning disability.

Educate, train and provide specialist advice to health and social care colleagues, support staff, students, carers and any other personnel/agencies that come into contact with people who have a learning disability.

Participate in the development of effective, responsive, evidence based person-centred services.

Contribute to the overall planning, delivery and evaluation of Physiotherapy services.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Diploma or degree in Physiotherapy, state registered with HCPC
  • Actively engaged with CPD


Desirable

  • Student educator


Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Confident and clear about the role of Physiotherapy in learning disabilities
  • Proven communication skills.
  • Able to prioritise and manage own workload
  • Able to work independently or
  • Appropriate specialist skills in physiotherapy assessment and treatment
  • Experience working as a physiotherapist
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team


Desirable

  • Supervisory experience Experience of clinical audits
  • Aquatic therapy assessment and treatment experience
  • Experience/ knowledge of postural management
  • Understanding of evidence based practice in learning disability speciality
  • Experience working in a community environment
  • Experience supervising other staff members


Aptitude and Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Professionally accountable for own actions and any clinical work delegated to other staff
  • Ability to work in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
  • Able to travel around the community independantly
