This is an exciting service development, resulting from an uplift in the NEDS commissioning from 2019 onwards. The post holder will enhance the existing Multi- Disciplinary Team, currently comprising consultant, principal and senior psychologists, advanced nurse practitioner (physical health), dietitian, mental health nurses, psychological therapist, assistant psychologists and admin and clerical stasff.,. These developments are in line with Guidance for Commissioners of Eating Disorder Services (Joint Commissioning Panel for Mental Health, 2013). We have thriving multidisciplinary team of over 18 w.t.e staff in post and we are currently recruiting a further 5 w.t.e including a family therapist, arts therapist, OT technical instructor, and peer support worker, and an additional dietitian.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for assisting in managing a caseload of complex patients and providing consultation and supervision for the team, alongside the Consultant Psychologist (Clinical Lead). Assessment of new referrals and liaison and consultation with other services with respect to co-morbid presentations will be integral in the role. Consultants also act as clinical supervisors to junior doctors on a rotating basis and other members of the team as appropriate. They will provide input to all parts of the service in agreement and collaboration with their consultant colleagues and the team managers.
The post holder will also be required to liaise with other eating disorder community services across the East Midland region. There are excellent relationships in the Network and supervision will be offered by highly experienced ED Consultant Psychiatrists from within region. The East Midlands network forum meet on a basis quarterly and peer supervision, training and service reviews are regular agenda items, as are national initiatives and developments. Contributions to the development and maintenance of a high quality service through their involvement in service initiatives, clinical governance, and service evaluation and research, will be integral in the post, locally, regionally and nationally. CRG meetings take place on a monthly basis at present.

Northants EDS is also a member of the East Midlands Clinical Reference Group, who are collaborating in the development of the New Care Model of Adult Eating Disorders, (April 2021) The Primary Provider for East Midlands is Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, and a long-standing relationship has been held between the inpatient ED team and Northants.
The Northamptonshire Eating Disorder Service (NEDS) is a long established psychology-led service which delivers multidisciplinary treatment and care by specialist staff for service users who have an eating disorder. The majority of patients will receive some form of individual or group therapy in line with NICE guidelines alongside drug treatments where appropriate. The team includes clinicians that are trained in Cognitive-Behavioural psychotherapy, Compassion and Schema-focused therapy, Family based psychotherapy, MANTRA and Specialist supportive clinical management. There is a robust system of clinical supervision. The service has recently been successful in being awarded FREED status, and is currently recruiting a FREED Champion. Collaborations with the National FREED centre at SLAM, and good relationships with the East Midlands FREED group and the East Midlands Academic Health Science Network are in place.

Person Specification Qualifications/Registration Essential
- MRCPsych.
- Full GMC Registration
- On Specialist Register lCCT in Adult Psychiatry or eligible for inclusion within six months
- Approved Clinician status
- Section 12 approval
- Further qualifications and training in eating disorders
- Higher degree/postgraduate diploma in related field
- Minimum of six years postgraduate experience (including three years as StR in approved training post) or equivalent.
- Part of this period may be in a post of equivalent responsibility and training.
- Experience of working in the fields of Adult Mental Health Services
- Management experience
- Experience of working with eating disorders
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels.
- Commitment to working with service users about services development. Cultural sensitivity, ability to work with a diverse population.
- Ability to motivate and develop junior medical staff and clinical teams.
- Willing to participate in clinical audit activities
- Experience of Service planning
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a clinical team. To balance individual requirements against those of the Directorate and Trust as a whole.
- Interest in research; willing to supervise research projects.
