The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of health care to patients who present to the nurse led Minor injuries service within the Accident and Emergency Department where they will work within an agreed scope of practice.

You will be working autonomously in a fast-paced environment and part of a multi-disciplinary team which is supportive and open.

You will be part of a team which is encouraged to be innovative and shape the service to departmental demands.

The post holder must demonstrate commitment to this dynamic role and be a positive role model to all staff.

Main duties of the job

Working autonomously to manage own caseload of patients whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team

To assess through examination, investigate, make a diagnosis, treat anddischarge patients, whilst identifying their physical, psychological, emotional, spiritualand cultural needs.

To act as a patient advocate when relevant, and be able to educate on alltreatment options to enable a patient to make an informed choice.

Develop excellent clinical governance through involvement in multidisciplinary clinical audit ensuring evidence-based practice is undertaken, participating in essence of care nursing audit.

Maintain adequate patient records and ensure all relevant information isdocumented in patient notes.

Job responsibilities

To act as an autonomous practitioner in the care and management of patients with minor injuries attending the Emergency Department at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.To promote practice and maintain standards and provide specialist advice in minor injuries to patients and the multidisciplinary team.To act as an expert resource and facilitator to educate and train other staff, and students including those from outside agencies, thus providing specialist care for patients.To take every opportunity to provide appropriate health education and accident prevention information.To build relationships with key stakeholders including outside agencies and.The post holder will be involved in the development of practice andmultidisciplinary audit initiatives and so undertaking clinical governance.The post holder will be accountable for own specialist professional practice.

  • Current NMC registration
