We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated registered healthcare professional to join our professional development team within the corporate division.
Post holders will support the provision of education and workforce development for staff across Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust.
The team is a friendly, supportive and specialised team who works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, higher education institutes and stake holder organisations to influence and shape the future of healthcare delivery.
We aim to support and empower both the current and future workforce to ensure our staff are equipped with the necessary skills, values and behaviours to deliver new and innovative models of compassionate patient focused care.
Main duties of the job
We are enthusiastic about welcoming new ideas enabling the successful candidate to take an active role in service development and leadership. You will need to facilitate the development of high standards of clinical skills to all learners within the environment. They will provide clinical induction, education, professional development and advice in line with best practice, national recommendations and clinical governance frameworks.
You will have evidence of a professional qualifications and UK registration with a regulatory body with ongoing development evidenced. We are looking for a staff with a skillset, experience and willingness to support learners from a variety of professional groups/backgrounds. You should have a flexible and adaptable approach and act as a resource and role model within the clinical areas.
The successful candidate will work with the existing team to develop and deliver our education strategy in partnership with the clinical areas and clinical educators. Deliver training and workshops to large groups and individuals across the organisation, at all levels, using both formal training delivery and work place based approaches.
Each educator is responsible for leading on an education objective and will share practice, developments and feedback against objectives. To be involved and contribute to the continuous evaluation process across education including peer reviews.

Role of Department
The Professional Development Team is part of the Corporate Nursing Directorate and provides support, advice, training and education across a range of work streams. The Professional Development team is responsible for promoting high standards of patient centred care through demonstration of clinical expertise with reference to The 6 Cs and 4ward behaviours. They support Sisters/Charge Nurses, Matrons and clinical staff in creating safe, effective, caring, responsive and well lead clinical environments that encourage learning and professional growth through practice development.
Responsibilities Of The Post
Clinical
Be a role model for clinical staff in providing a high standard of holistic and individualised patient care to patients by:
Working alongside clinical staff demonstrating and applying an in depth knowledge of a range of clinical skills.
Acting as a reflective practitioner, applying evidence based practice and critical thinking to review all practices and processes of care with clinical leads.
Promoting and maintaining a concept of holistic nursing which incorporates a patient centred approach to care.
Deliver teaching programmes using a variety of approaches including: patient bedside coaching, mentoring, tutorials, clinical updates, multi-professional teaching sessions and difficult cases discussions
Ensuring that practices of clinical staff are working in accordance with appropriate professional guidance and best practice
Assist in the development and review of protocols and guidelines for nursing practice.
Work closely with other key individuals both internally and externally to support practice developments to improve patient care.
Work with all nursing staff to ensure that all practitioners have a clear understanding of accountability through the NMC Code and Standards for Health Care Support Workers.
To effectively support the provision of the highest possible standard of physical, psychological, social and nursing care for patients, their relatives and friends.
Provide training in response to developmental needs identified in organisational training needs analysis and training plans, local and national developments and initiatives.
Facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of best clinical guidelines, policies and protocols
Participate in the process of standard setting and nursing developments to facilitate continuous improvements in practice and the quality of care provided.
Identify and report potential issues or concerns which may compromise the quality of patient care, liaising with Ward Sisters/Charge nurses/ Matrons as appropriate.
Demonstrate, skills in multi-professional team working and leadership that responds to the changing needs of patients and assist/enable nursing colleagues to acquire those multi-professional team skills
Participate, support and role model to nursing colleagues skilled and competent nursing practice in the clinical setting.
To work consistently with nursing colleagues to improve all aspects of nursing care by providing on-going support, advice and by facilitating their ownership of their own learning.
Understand and demonstrate to other nurse colleagues good current clinical practice as well as emerging clinical practice which must be supported by nationally based care standards that are empirically/research based.
Provide support for staff in effectively addressing concerns and where required provide support to investigate clinical incidents or complaints in line with hospital policy.
Work with colleagues to promote a culture positive of reporting concerns, incidents related to patient quality and safety.
To provide a skills and competency based approach to the training, development and support of nursing and health care support worker staff across the organisation.
To act appropriately in the event of any accidents and emergencies, and to report any incident according to hospital policy.
To abide by the legal and statutory rules relating to nursing practice and to maintain a standard of conduct in accordance with the NMC Code and Hospital Policies.
