We have an exciting opportunity for a Locum Specialty Doctor to join our Low Secure Service based at the Tarenfort Centre.

This is a 8 PA post however the Trust would welcome a discussion with individuals looking for a more flexible working pattern to support work-life balance.

Applicants must have full registration with the GMC including licence to practice.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be supporting the consultant for 10 patients on River Hill Ward. TFC. The post holder undertakes to deputise/cross cover from time to time for absent colleagues during annual leaves/Study leaves/Sickness absence.

The post holder is expected to attend daily handover meetings. The expectation is be responsible for day to day management of inpatients on the ward. The post holder should be attending ward round, Pre-CPA and CPA meetings. The post holder would be expected to admit patients and follow all the admission procedures on RIO. Although there is a physical health nurse dedicated to do procedure, The post holder should be able to do bloods and ECG if needed. They should be able to liaise with the GP and able to refer patients to specialist services if needed. The post holder would be preparing CPA reports. The post holder can attend the local and forensic CPD Meetings. Trust organises SAS Days once in 3 or 4 months. This would be CPD Day alongside interacting with peers throughout the trust.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable
  • MRCPsych OR a specialist qualification from an EU country that complies with EU directive 2005/36/EU.
Eligibility Essential
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Desirable
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice.
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 6 months of appointment
Clinical skills, knowledge and experience. Essential
  • At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in core psychiatry training programme
  • Good knowledge in specialty
  • Good clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
Desirable
  • Postgraduate experience in specialty
