Band 8B Assistant Clinical Lead Role (ACL)- Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to continue leading and developing the Crisis Care service at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. This will involve collaboration with partnership agencies and working closely with the Clinical Lead and other ACL'S, as well as line management of their MDT.

This post will support strategic development of which includes ensuring the delivery and sustainability of the service.

Working closely with other mental health, education and council partners. The ability to engage with colleagues across organisational boundaries will be essential.

We are looking for a motivated and confident individual with a passion to improve children and young peoples mental health services to take on this position.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Clinical Lead is a key member of the Crisis Care Community Division Mental Health Services Leadership Team based at Alder Hey Children's hospital and will be responsible for the clinical management of their MDT in addition to providing clinical supervision to assigned clinicians.

The post will support clinical, strategic and performance leadership for the service and will also perform responsibilities delegated by the Clinical Lead as appropriate, including being responsible for designated areas of service development and leadership tasks - this will be guided by the Clinical Lead and the Service and Trust's vision.

Clinically, the post holder will support staff via clinical supervision and operational supervision to ensure the team are supported to provide clinical intervention of the highest standard.

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 275,000 children and young people each year. In addition to the hospital site located in the West Derby area of Liverpool, Alder Hey has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients' homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at Sunflower House Inpatient Unit based in the Catkin building on the Alder Hey Hospital campus.

CLINICAL MANAGEMENT / CLINICAL LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCEClinical Management
  • To support team members to assess, treat and discharge children and young people effectively.
  • To ensure appropriate data is completed by clinicians within their MDT e.g. Routine outcome measures and other clinical documents.
  • Oversee safe use of equipment and resources
  • Conduct appraisals of staff within the team (Performance & Development Reviews)
  • Identify training needs and coordination of continuing professional development in conjunction with the wider Leadership team
  • Provide clinical supervision support to staff from own and other services /teams as agreed with the Clinical Lead


Person Specification

Education & Training

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent pre 1996) and registration with HCPC
  • A recognised health or social care qualification and be registered with the appropriate governing body supported by experience at an equivalent doctorate level
  • Post-grad training in a recognised therapeutic speciality and be registered with UKCP/HPC or equivalent
  • Or Clinical Masters Degree or relevant experience at doctorate level or equivalent
  • Further training/study in relation to specialist supervision within CAMHS


Desirable

  • A recognised and appropriate management training or equivalent


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience of working in specialist CAMHS
  • Extensive experience of leading multi- disciplinary team work
  • Experience of leading and supervising a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of training/teaching staff
  • Extensive experience of offering consultation to children, young people and their families and to other staff groups and partner agencies
  • Ability to supervise CAMHS workers.
  • Evidence of leading change initiatives
  • Experience of engaging / liaising with local support networks for children, young people and families


Desirable

  • Experience of strategic and business development of CAMHS provision
  • Ability to engage staff in the future shaping of services and strategic visioning.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to provide a high level of competency and autonomy in analysing presenting problems in the context of the child and family and/or wider social context
  • Ability to work utilising a range of integrated therapeutic perspectives and modalities dependent on the needs of the client.
  • Understanding of the application of psychological and other theories relating to a multi-cultural and socially diverse population
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to CAMHS provision
