We are advertising for a clinical psychologist to work initially within the older person's community team covering North Norfolk and part of the city of Norwich. Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust is a Trust in need of change and getting the right culture to improve the quality of services for those who use them is top of our agenda. Main duties of the job
This post is part time and your work will involve a mixture of individual work, group work, consultation, training and supervision.
You will be working in a friendly and supportive service which values supervision and the importance of professional and personal development. There are good formal and informal support networks with other Clinical Psychologists working within this specialism both within the Trust and across the region.
This is a substantive post, for the initial 12 months you will be within the older person's community team. After this 12 months, depending on service need and development opportunities, there is likely to be the opportunity of working in another part of the care group.

Qualifications
Essential
- Post-graduate degree (or its equivalent if trained prior to 1996) in clinical / forensic psychology, accredited by BPS
- Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
Desirable
- Theory and practice of specialised psychological interventions (assessment and / or therapist)
- Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
Experience
Essential
- Experience working as a qualified clinical psychologist (Band 7) and able to evidence appropriate knowledge and experience in practice to enable the post holder to clinically supervise trainee clinical psychologist
- Experience of working with a wide variety and severity of client groups & clinical problems, in various settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
- Experience of working with a range of complex and challenging behaviours and exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological treatment.
Desirable
- Experience of representing psychology within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts).
Skills
Essential
- Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management
- Able to effectively communicate technical and clinically sensitive information to service users, families, carers and other professionals, within and outside NHS.
- Skills in consultation to professional and non - professional groups.
Knowledge
Essential
- Doctor level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis.
- Knowledge of mental health legislation within specialist clinical context.
Desirable
- Well-developed knowledge of theory and practice of specialised psychological intervention and assessment in specialist clinical settings and service user groups.

- Able to identify, provide and promote appropriate support strategies to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and challenging behaviours.

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people. We are a large organisation covering a wide geographical area divided into ‘Care Groups'. There are also Care Groups supporting children, family and young people’s services, and specialist services, including Forensic mental health services.
