The Vascular lab is one of the busiest vascular ultrasound departments around and represents an amazing opportunity to develop your skills in this area. We perform a complete set of vascular ultrasound investigations including

Renal artery and transplant kidney

Vascular access for dialysis fistula and mapping including for endo-AVF

Specialist work for diabetic foot including pedal arterial and ultra-distal bypass graft surveillance

Urgent scans for vasculitis such as GCA pathways

Guidance for endo-venous work

All the usual scans such as peripheral arterial and venous and carotid.

The department is fully committed to providing individually tailored support to enable you to add to your existing experience, so full training can be provided in areas not already within your scope, and as a big team we always aim to ensure sufficient senior support is available while encouraging independent practice.

Many of our team will be at the CSVS annual scientific meeting in Brighton this year so come and say hello and ask informally about the department or arrange an informal visit, we look forward to seeing you there!

Job description

Job responsibilities

We ensure all scientists have allocated time away from direct patient care to participate in audit and project work and we have had multiple projects presented at a variety of conferences. Including prize winner papers produced by the team. We also have a daily co-ordinator role which everyone participates in.

Vascular scientists at Kings are respected members of a variety of different MDTs within the Trust including vascular, neurovascular, renal and haematology and we encourage active participation in these groups.

The role will be mainly based at the Denmark Hill site but will require some cross site working at Princess Royal University Hospital and others.

We encourage all scientists to develop their careers. We have a strong history of building our staff, our senior team of six Band 8 scientists all started here as trainees or in band 7 roles. We place high value in our team.
