We are seeking a new Training Centre Manager and Deputy Director for the North of England Pathology and screening education centre based in Wakefield.
The role of NEPSEC is to lead on the development of the workforce to meet the requirements of the cervical cancer screening programme, both now and in the future.
Additionally, the centre provides training to support those providing a diagnostic cytology service and course programmes that support the development of Biomedical Scientists undertaking specimen dissection and more recently histopathology reporting.
NEPSEC also provide sample taker training at update and basic level for the cervical screening programme in the East Midlands and basic training of nurses in the South East Coast of England. It achieves this through close working relationships with those involved in these different areas to develop a range of appropriate, high quality training initiative and programmes.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the SYBP Scientific Director, the Assistant Director and Training Centre Manager is responsible for the operational, financial, HR and strategic management.
Strategic alignment of training centre with the goals and objectives of SYB Pathology.
Provision of a comprehensive training service, its sustainability and continuous development.
Quality of service and its continuous development and improvement in order to provide the best, effective and user centric training service.
Financial planning and delegated budget management. This includes working to agreed financial targets and managing budgetary outcomes.
Development and management of sustainable commercial and income generating capabilities.
Implementation and management of the requirements specified in the policies and procedures of the Organisation.
Implementation of National and Local legislations and policies and compliance management.
Implementation of the relevant professional and accreditation standards and compliance management.
Implementation and management of compliance with service agreements and contracts.
Staff engagement and continuous workforce support and development.
Active engagement with service users, Commissioners, professional bodies and organisations, academia and industry and building and management of productive relationship with all service users, stakeholders and public.
Promotion of the values of the Host Trust and culture of transparency, accountability and responsibility.

- Educated to Master level in Biomedical / Clinical Science, or equivalent experience.
- Registration with HCPC as Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist
- Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science
- To have attained the RCPath / IBMS Certificate in Advanced Practice in Cervical Cytology
- NHSCSP or BSCC/IBMS Certificate of competence
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development.

- Leadership / Management qualification or post graduate diploma, or equivalent experience.

- Experience in staff management in multiple supervisory positions and leading expanded and high complex teams.
