The MFT Corporate Safeguarding team are looking for a registered midwife to join a fast paced and dynamic workplace. This busy but successful team is ideally located within the antenatal clinic at St Mary's maternity hospital's Oxford Road Campus. With our friendly support and mentoring you will draw and build on your previous safeguarding knowledge and skills to work with mothers, their families and other agencies to ensure that the thousands of babies born at St Mary's are effectively safeguarded. You will develop close working relationships with Safeguarding Midwives at the other hospital sites within MFT and across Greater Manchester. Over time you will develop training skills and participate in the delivery of Level 3 Safeguarding Training in collaboration with the wider trust safeguarding team. You will be fully supported to develop into the role so whilst previous experience working within a safeguarding team would be desirable, it is not essential.
If you are interested in applying we would welcome a visit or a phone call from you to discuss the job further and answer any questions you may have.
The job on offer is permanent but we could also offer a fixed term contract or a secondment depending on the situation of the successful applicant.
Main duties of the job
Your day to day role will include providing advice to the ward midwives caring for inpatients and to Community Midwives encountering safeguarding concerns in community clinics and home settings.
You will maintain a visible presence in the clinical areas.
You will be responsible for ensuring that St Mary's staff are supported to represent the Trust at multi-agency meetings including strategy meetings, Initial Child Protection Case Conferences and Reviews. You will support St Mary's staff to fulfill their safeguarding duties and will give practical support to St Mary's when necessary to ensure there are no gaps in the provision.
