We have an opportunity for a permanent post as a Physiotherapy Lead for the acute medical wards which deliver, acute inpatient care, acute rehabilitation and hospital flow, as well supporting our Acute Neurotherapy Service (ANTs), and ITU step down service with the Therapy lead for acute medical and ITU. You be working with a dynamic, large multi-disciplinary team who are constantly driving forward improvements in the service.
Knowledge of current thinking for the delivery of services for acute medical patient and an ability to lead audit and other project work are key aspects of this role. The post holder will deliver high quality clinical interventions and motivate your team to do the same. The post holder will represent therapies and be an active contributor to key relevant trust-wide groups for example complex patient panel, and hospital flow. Excellent supervision and mentoring skills are essential for this role.

Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for acutely ill adult patients on the acute medical wards.
- Operationally manage and coordinate therapy services for a wide range of medical inpatients that require rehabilitation, and signpost to other inpatient, outpatient and community based services
- To regularly attend hospital whiteboards and MDMs and provide guidance and support on therapy intervention and hospital flow.
- Manage and provide clinical supervision to rotating Band 6, Band 5 and under-graduate physiotherapy students on clinical placement
- Provide specialist knowledge and teaching to teams, department therapists and to medical and nursing staff.
- Work with the other band 7s within the team, and the 8a Therapies Lead for Acute Medical & ITU in day-to-day clinical and operational management of the Acute Medical Team
- To manage our overflow ward in time of a surge in collaboration with the other team leads.
- Collaborate and assist service managers to develop the physiotherapy service in line with user involvement and relevant NHS directives
