An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit based at the Atherleigh Park Hospital, Leigh, Greater Manchester. This is a fixed term contract until March 2025 to cover for maternity leave and will be working with therapists in a well established team that works across five wards in a modern hospital.
The job holder will be responsible for managing a daily caseload of clients with acute / complex mental health and occasional physical health rehabilitation needs. You will complete a range of assessments and treatment plans to contribute to the discharge planning process based on your professional knowledge.
You will be part of The Therapy Team at Atherleigh Park and this comprises of Activity Co-ordinators, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and Therapy Assistants. There are members of the team allocated to work on the PICU aswell as this post.
Main duties of the job
o To manage complex needs inpatient acute psychiatric admission ward caseload using evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and record all interventions.
o To contribute to a rapid multi-disciplinary assessment of mental state and function. To use core team assessments and electronic patient records.
o To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on fieldwork placement.
o To provide leadership for junior and support staff as delegated by supervisor.
o To abide by the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for OT Practice.
o To develop skills and knowledge through participation in a Professional Development planning to meet the competency framework
o To participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy services with the designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined forums
o To deputise for Senior Practitioners.
o They will be required to have a flexible approach to working hours to ensure that the needs of their clients are met.

Qualifications

- Relevant professional Occupational Therapist qualification
- Current HPC registration
- Fieldwork Educators Qualification
- Post graduate accredited study e.g. PSI, CBT, MSc in relevant health studies.

- Previous experience in relevant health settings
