We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy and Discharge Service team at the William Harvey Hospital.
The successful candidate will be working alongside colleagues both within the team, as well as in collaboration with our local organisations, to provide a high quality service to a variety of patients across Urgent, Emergency and Acute Medicine and support with a seamless transition from the acute setting.
The team comprises of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Discharge Managers who are vital in the assessment and planning of therapy needs and discharge arrangements for patients admitted through our busy Emergency Department.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated therapist who is looking for a new challenge in helping to continually develop the service and who wants to develop their people management skills with support from the Clinical Lead Therapist and senior colleagues.
Please note that previous applicants need not apply.
Main duties of the job
Supporting the Clinical Lead in providing a high quality therapy service to a range of people to ensure a safe, efficient and effective discharge home with appropriate referrals into the community setting.
Collaborative working with the multi disciplinary team to ensure efficient patient flow through prioritising the caseload and supporting therapy colleagues to organise their caseload appropriately.
Supporting the team in their development and assisting in the day to day running of the therapy service.
To provide support and professional development of junior staff.
About us
We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 695,000 people.
Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference'.
We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.
Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process.
