We are looking for a Children and Young People's (CYP) Mental health Specialist, part time, up to 21 hours per week at Ipswich Hospital. The post will commence from 1st April 2025.
You will have post-registration experience of working with and supporting people under the age of 18 who have mental health needs. Your expertise and knowledge will support the continuing service which we provide for young people. Our CYP Specialist roles have grown and developed in the two and a half years since they were introduced and are a core component to the service we offer to people with complex health issues. This will be an excellent opportunity for someone with the relevant qualification, skills and experience to be part of this valued service.
You will provide clinical intervention, leadership and training on the delivery of care for children and young people. To achieve this you will be responsible for developing care packages and programmes including to those who self-harm or have an eating disorder. You will work closely with partners to enable multi-agency input around the child or young person and their family's needs.

Main duties of the job
- Support to staff working across ESNEFT through offering training and education as a means of building confidence and skills within the workforce.
- Establish relationships with colleagues across the hospital to provide enhanced specialist level supervision and guidance, using person-centred care, therapeutic skills, sharing of knowledge, evidence based practice and critical reflective practice.
- Provide specialist assessment
- Advise on the care of children and young people who have mental health needs and their carers/families
- Onward referral and liaison with appropriate community specialist services
- Provide a range of psychosocial interventions and emotional support to promote health and wellbeing for children and young people
- Ensure that all legal requirements relating to mental capacity, safeguarding and mental health are considered and adhered to in relation to patient care
- Participate in case conferences and multi-agency reviews where required within the acute hospital
- Work collaboratively with health, social and voluntary sector services to achieve coordinated care and safe discharge

- Experience of recent involvement in practice/ service development.
- Experience of working with groups and individuals in a variety of roles and settings
- Demonstrated experience of working as an autonomous practitioner
