The Planned Investigation Unit (PIU) is open from 07:30 to 20:00, Monday to Friday consisting of eight trolleys, a telephone pre assessment clinic, a multi-function treatment room where respiratory procedures are undertaken, along with the nurse led greater occipital nerve injection clinic and a 5 chaired infusion and recovery suite.
This dynamic and diverse day case unit supports the investigations and treatments of numerous trust wide specialities. We deliver a wide variety of therapeutic infusions and treatments alongside diagnostic and interventional procedures.
The team pride themselves on delivering excellent patient care and are always keen to extend their knowledge and skill set. As we are predominately a nurse led unit the environment facilitates individuals to be at the forefront of change.
We are looking for an individual who is dynamic and patient focused. Able to work in a fast paced, interesting and varied environment who puts patients first.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
To deliver clinical expertise and work as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Always act as a positive role model maintaining professionalism in all aspects of the role.
Supervise and mentor new learners and students.
Develop skill set to include venepuncture and cannulation, administration of infusions and undertake competencies appropriate for the Unit. Safely prepare patients undergoing interventional radiological procedures and provide post procedural care following agreed clinical pathways.
