Band 8a Education Speech and Language Therapy Locality Lead (Complex needs and Dysphagia

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Education Speech and Language Therapy Locality Lead to join our SLT Clinical Leadership Team. With extensive clinical and operational experience, and excellent staff management skills, you will co-lead our special schools speech and language therapy and school aged dysphagia teams. You will have at least five years of clinical experience in special schools including dysphagia, including a minimum of two years' experience in managing SLT teams in special schools.
You will have demonstrable clinical supervisory and line management skills and have experience of the day to day running of SLT teams working in special schools and dysphagia. The role will include working in partnership with the Local Authorities and our Parent Carer Networks as well as managing a clinical caseload.
Main duties of the job
Two years of experience of providing clinical supervision and line management to SLTs in special schools.
Knowledge and experience of:
Implementing quality improvement strategies and initiatives
Delivery of different SLT models of care within special schools settingsManaging change within an SLT service.Leadership skills e.g., in service development projectsImportance of delivering SLT services to KPIs and to contract specification.effective partnership workingOverall team and individual performance managementExtensive knowledge and experience of clinical assessment, intervention approaches and use of outcome measures in special schools speech and language development
Providing assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex SLT needs including dysphagia.

- First degree and License to Practice from the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
- Current registered membership of HCPC and requirement for professional indemnity insurance if not a member of RCSLT
- Educated to modules at Master's level, or equivalent in SLT discipline or equivalent competency at post graduate diploma / training and experience

- Extensive experience working with children with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties working in special school settings with teaching staff.Post graduate paediatric dysphagia experience (5 years) including non-oral feeding
- Experienced in partnership working, including for transformation.
- Experience working in partnership with LA colleagues to embed new ways of working and delivery of performance KPIs.
- Collaborative work with parents and other professionals, especially education staff.
- Extensive experience delivering training & coaching for teaching staff working in special school settings
- Experience of transformation and in delivering significant service development projects
- Has undertaken leadership training and has experience of leading SLT teams
- Experience of managing clinical staff in teams
