An exciting opportunity for a registered and experience midwife to join North Middlesex University Hospital as a Lead Midwife for Saving Babies LivesCare Bundle version 3 (SBLCBv3).
This role will involve overseeing the implementation of the Saving Babies Lives bundle, lead, facilitate and build on the current practice to enable the delivery of the care bundle. To work on agreed local improvement trajectory with ICB and track progress locally in accordance with that trajectory.
The post holder will be leading on the implementation of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle (SBLCB).
The post holder will work closely with consultant midwives, the Lead midwife for Education and workforce, Quality and Governance team and other stakeholders to achieve the elements of the care bundle. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for leading, monitoring, building and reporting to the ICB on the entire 6 elements of SBLCB.
Provide complex, contentious or highly sensitive information and data to staff and the Divisional management team in order to providefeedback, learning and to demonstrate quality and performance.
Main duties of the job
To lead on improving the standard of compliance with SBLCBv3 NMUH.This will include:o Reducing smoking in pregnancyo Risk assessment, prevention and surveillance of pregnancies at risk ofo Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR)o Raising awareness of reduced fetal movementso Reducing preterm birtho Management of pre-existing diabeteso To support the Consultant Midwife for Public Health, the Quality & Governance lead Midwife and the lead midwife for Education to achievebetter birth outcomes through audit and training.o Work alongside the Consultant Obstetrician within the Preterm Birth Serviceand actively support the development of a preterm birth network across thelocal Maternity & Neonatal Service (LMNS)o Work alongside the fetal monitoring and diabetes specialist lead Midwives toensure compliance with the relevant elements.o Assist the multi-disciplinary maternity team to implement and sustainthe use of the SBL protocol.o Always maintain Professional Standards in accordance with NMC Midwives Rulesand Code of Conduct.o Maintain clinical skills in line with Professional registration providingspecialist advice and using skills to deliver plans of care.o Post holder will be expected to work clinically.

The midwife will lead on the care of women at risk of preterm birth alongside the Lead Obstetrician.The midwife will act as a clinical role model for effective clinical leadership, enabling and facilitating others to take forward initiatives to achieve the implementation of SBLCBv3 and reduce the rate of stillbirths.The midwife will have line management responsibility for the Smoking Cessation team.There may be occasions where you will be required to work clinically in times of high activity.Act as a role model, maintaining a high profile and liaise closely withobstetricians, neonatologists, maternity ultrasound, maternity wards anddepartments, the Community midwifery teams and NICU/SCBU in order tomaximize the opportunities to embed this work, demonstrating clinical expertisewhen appropriate.Assist with the recruitment, selection, and induction of staff where appropriate.Attend divisional, group, departmental, coordinator and steering group meetings as necessary.Participate in the investigation and where possible, the resolution of incidents and complaints, reporting to the Head of Midwifery as necessary.
Develop frameworks for sharing best practice and Lessons learned. Support the Lead Midwife for Education in the development of training programmes that adequately reflect the needs of the service and the requirements of the SBLCBv3Ensure the training needs analysis (TNA) is updated in line with the requirements of the SBLCBv3 and that the provision of training is in accordance with the Maternity Incentive Scheme.Be responsible and actively involved in the identification, coordination and provision of up-to-date training on relevant aspects of the SBLCBv3 for the multidisciplinary team.Be responsible and take the lead for a successful implementation of the role objectives and highlight any areas needing development to the Consultant Midwife Public HealthUse effective time management skills and have regular one-to-ones with the Consultant Midwife Public Health to ensure optimum service and personal development.Communicate with the key stakeholders to maximize the success of SBLCBv3Provide timely and accurate progress reports to all stakeholders in collaboration with other senior midwives and midwifery managers, contribute to providing and collecting evidence for achievement of SBLCBv3 at all levels, specifically in relation to standards where the care bundle requires evidence/audits.Work closely with the Consultant Midwife Public Health, the Education Lead Midwife and the Quality and Governance Lead Midwife to achieve key deliverables
