We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Psychologist to join the Children's Psychology team at Poole Hospital. Our small psychology team work closely with our paediatric consultants, nurses and other allied health professionals to support both outpatients and admissions. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the diabetes and oncology teams to help assess and support the emotional well-being of the children and their families. The oncology team work closely with Southampton and the post-holder will screen, assess and support children both on and post treatment. Within diabetes the successful applicant will contribute to annual review clinics, screen newly diagnosed families & support children with mental health and diabetes related issues.
A key aspect of the role is the provision of supervision, teaching and consultation. The post-holder will attend weekly MDT psychosocial meetings. Service evaluation and audit will also be an important and valued element of the role.
Clinical and professional supervision will be provided by the Lead Clinical Psychologist or an external supervisor as appropriate. This opportunity is suited to someone who is creative and innovative and can demonstrate excellent clinical, communication skills whilst demonstrating compassion and flexibility within this busy service.

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, accredited by the BPS
Desirable
- CPD in field of child health, chronic illness, therapies including ACT or systemic
Experience
Essential
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of client groups and care settings, including outpatient and inpatient care.
- Further specialist training/experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a specialist clinical psychologist over a minimum of 12 months, or an alternative agreed by the Paediatric Psychology Lead
- Experience of working in paediatrics and/or physical health, families of children with chronic conditions
- Experience of offering staff supervision/support Experience of teaching, training

- Experience of working in diabetes and oncology

- Ability to maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly complex and distressing problems.
