We looking for a motivated and dynamic individual to join the FDS/2 week wait GI service.
This exciting opportunity aims to facilitate faster diagnosis for patients on a 28-day pathway by providing care and support for patients on suspected cancer pathways.
As a GI clinical pathway Senior sister you will be expected to exhibit specific skills in the management of disorders of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. This will includeundertaking assessment, education and counselling.
The post holder will work alongside our nursing and medical colleagues in endoscopy, colorectal, radiology, surgery, GP's and cancer services in the trust. They will have a clinical commitment to the 2WW GI Service
The band 7 senior sister will assist in overseeing the 2 WW GI service this will be across all 3 sites of the trust and be directly involved in vetting and triaging the 2WWreferrals.
The role involves both clinical and service management specifications. This therefore requires an individual with excellent organization and time management skills. An individual who can lead, develop and influence service provision. They must be an experienced autonomous practitioner and show evidence of leading a team and service successfully.
This person will be supported by a our FDS Lead Nurse & service manager (nonclinical), in addition to the endoscopy consultant body.
Main duties of the job
Be accountable for the direct delivery and management of the 2WW GIservice.Lead the development of the clinical triage process and audit its effectivenessWork collaboratively with the immediate and extended Endoscopy teams on several sites to deliver the clinical pathway.Be responsible for policy implementation, review and development of theservice.Clinically screen the referrals that come via the 2WW GI Service.Co-ordinating and providing care from the point of access to address theneeds of individuals arising as a consequence of referrals to the 2 week wait/Endoscopy services.Acting as the patient's advocate supporting them to navigate and makeinformed choices at all stages of the processes.Undertake audit and research activities, compile reports for presentationinternally and external to the Trust.Educate members of the multidisciplinary team about the 2WW GI pathway

Education/ Qualifications
Essential
- RGN with current NMC registration
- Preceptorship and mentorship module or equivalent
- Degree
- Specialist qualification - experience of working In a specialist area to masters level or equivalent
Desirable
- Pre-Assessment post registration courses.
- Masters level
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Substantial post registration experience (significant experience in endoscopy/preassessment/GI Nursing)).
- Experience of managing staff and rosters.
- Has an exemplary understanding of complex endoscopy procedures
- Working knowledge of national agenda on improving endoscopy services, population demographics, health inequalities, public health strategies, clinical governance. management, valid consent and withdrawal of consent and NICE guidelines on 2WW.
- Experience of Audit and evaluation.
