An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 HIV Nurse Specialist. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can practice flexibly.
We are a small nursing team within an evolving service that involves comprehensive support and new treatment for patients living with HIV and working across multiple sites across Newcastle and North Cumbria.
We are now providing injectable long acting medications with the specialist nurse having a pivotal role in provision.

Main duties of the job
Multi-site working - clinics in Newcastle and North Cumbria.
Carrying out person centred consultations within a clinic setting.
Attending MDT meetings
Contacting patients by phone to provide information regarding results.
Working closely with patients to support attendance to clinic and monitoring of medication.
Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to support patient attendance to clinic or medication monitoring.
Contributing to service improvement.
First point of contact for patient with queries regarding HIV, medications, sexual health, onward referral to MDT members for support.
Health promotion - making every contact count.
Experience in adult safeguarding.
Awareness of children's safeguarding.
Discussions regarding vaccinations.

- oRegistered nurse (appropriate to branch)
- oCurrent NMC registration
- oDiploma plus specialist qualifications / experience within specialist area prepared to take degree level study
- oMeets Nursing and Midwifery Council standards for student supervision and assessment (formally Mentorship) if relevant to role
- oCurrent driving licence if relevant to role

- oDegree in health related subject
