We are seeking to appoint a skilled confident and motivated analyst to join the trust's busy Information & Insight Team.

Sherwood Forest Hospitals are embarking on a major programme of transformation with the implementation of an Electronic Patient Record (EPR), and this has created an exciting opportunity to work as a Business Insight Analyst within the Business Insight Team. The aim of the role is to promote and support the effective use of information to inform the delivery of high-quality patient care in an organisation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing in depth, specialist information, reports and recommendations to support the decision making processes. They will play a key role in the long term strategic planning and business management of the Trust through, for example, the development of demand and capacity models, market and benchmarking analyses and analytical support to large scale improvement projects.

The post holder will show initiative and self-motivation and will have excellent interpersonal skills, given the need to pro-actively support senior managers and clinicians through their analytical skills and knowledge of NHS information, performance and planning frameworks.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience of using NHS information to drive change
  • In depth knowledge of NHS information analyses, NHS targets, performance monitoring processes and performance indicators
  • Excellent numeric skills
  • Ability to analyse and interpret highly complex information and translate into easily understood messages
  • Ability to deliver statistical presentations to all levels of staff within the organisation
  • Prioritisation and time management skills are required in order to manage a variety of sub-projects at once
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time on highly complex and multi stranded analysis
  • Specialist knowledge of developing large scale, complex demand and capacity models using NHS information systems
  • Specialist knowledge of Payment By Results
  • Technical expertise in data analysis such as Access, Excel, SQL
  • Open to new learning opportunities
  • Initiative and self-motivation
  • Willingness to learn and the ability to apply new desktop solutions
  • Approachable, reliable, decisive, tactful, well-motivated, respectful and supportive


Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level


Desirable

  • Evidence of continuing professional development, particularly in business intelligence and analysis


Further Training

Essential

  • Statistical process control


Desirable

  • Trained in using commercially or NHS developed demand and capacity modelling systems
  • Formal Project Management Training e.g. PRINCE2


Experience

Essential

  • Using benchmarking systems and interpreting information to management colleagues
  • Advanced experience of using, analysing, presenting and managing computerised information


Desirable

  • Use of Model Hospital, Dr Foster
  • NHS contracting experience
  • Recent experience of supporting service improvement projects in an NHS secondary care environment
  • Experience of developing business cases
  • Experience of supporting demand and capacity planning in a hospital environment


Contractual Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the role
  • There will be a requirement to work across other hospital sites
