Royal Papworth Hospital is looking for an experienced Lead Business Intelligence Analyst to join their Business Intelligence Team. The team is responsible for a wide range of information analysis relating to patient information, business and performance management indicators and clinical and data quality issues. The Team is integral to the Trust's performance management framework and it's specialist knowledge plays an important part in operational decision-making.

The role sits within the Finance Directorate and will work closely with the Digital Directorate to deliver the requirements of the role and to deliver increasing collaboration between the two teams.

Main duties of the job

The Lead Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for providing external and internal customers business intelligence reports designed to support and deliver the Trust's objectives. The post holder will be responsible for improving and innovating reports to fully exploit data rich clinical systems and providing interpretive analytics and commentary. The Lead will need to have expertise in specific areas but will also be expected to understand all areas of activity and support others to complete their tasks and improve reporting processes. The post holder will be expected to lead some development of extracts, reports, dashboards and help end-users of the report to analyse and interpret the information.

  • Experience of statistical or analytical work in health or social care taking responsibility for developing and delivering a wide range of analysis
  • Experience of NHS acute Trust computer/information systems (Data warehouse, PAS).
  • Experience of activity modelling, waiting list profiling and capacity planning.
  • Detailed knowledge of the NHS data dictionary and its application.
  • Knowledge of Data Quality and its implications
  • Experience in the use of Business Intelligence tools for reporting, e.g. Qlikview/Sense, Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, etc

  • Knowledge of and ability to utilise statistical reporting solutions such as `R` and `SPSS`
  • Experience of leading a team.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to move between the detail and the big picture
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS data flows and data sets available within the NHS, including knowledge of the NHS Data Dictionary, currencies of healthcare commissioning, coding and information systems within the NHS
  • Experience of working with databases, especially Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience of building reporting dashboards in Qlikview
  • Coaching and mentoring others with analytical tasks
