The unitalso includes anAmbulatory Care for Surgery pathway, which is led by two Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

Patients are referred under the care of General Surgical, Maxillofacial or Gynaecological specialities, as well as from GP surgeries, other hospitals, our outpatient clinics and our emergency department.

Patients receive rapid nurse-led assessment and are stabilised before individual management plans are prepared and delivered to ensure each patient receives the specialist surgical care they need. Patients can be either treated and discharged from SAU or admitted to one of our inpatient wards.
