This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified practitioner psychologist with a strong interest paediatric neuropsychology to work within a small but vital specialist service at the Evelina London Children's Hospital. We pride ourselves on providing expert neuropsychological assessment and consultation that is formulation driven and compassionate. As an HCPC registered practitioner psychologist you will have the opportunity to develop your existing neuropsychology skills by providing assessments and consultations to children and young people with a range of neurological and other health conditions. You will act as the point of contact for referrals from the neuroinflammatory service, developing specialist knowledge of these conditions and supporting the development of pathways of care for patients with neuroinflammatory conditions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide neuropsychological assessment and consultation for children with a range of medical backgrounds, with a particular focus on those with neuroinflammatory conditions. There will also be opportunities to develop resources to meet the needs of children and young people seen within this service. This post will be particularly of interest to candidates who wish to explore whether they would like to continue down the BPS QiCN route. There will be opportunities to develop supervision skills through supporting undergraduate student placements within the service.
The ideal candidate will be systematic and well organised, able to self-manage, creative, with excellent communication skills. We recognise that specialist paediatric neuropsychology placements are not always available in training and therefore will consider candidates who have clearly demonstrated an interest and commitment to the area and have some generalizable neuropsychology skills and experience.
The post holder will join a small team of practitioner psychologists from clinical and educational psychology backgrounds. The team sits within Evelina Neurosciences, which has a strong psychology presence. Within the Evelina London Children's Hospital and Community Services there is a larger psychology service covering Paediatrics, NICU and Cleft. We also have the benefit of working with our paediatric psychology colleagues from the Royal Brompton and Harefield.
