We are seeking a dynamic and experienced operational manager to lead, manage, and develop the operational aspects of the Emergency Department. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of emergency care, improving patient flow, managing resources, and supporting a dedicated team of healthcare professionals. Working closely with clinical and operational leaders, you will play a crucial role in enhancing patient outcomes, optimising service performance, and upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Main duties of the job
- Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring optimal staffing, resource allocation, and adherence to performance targets.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and support a multidisciplinary team, fostering a positive, collaborative, and patient-centred culture.
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient flow, quality of care, and service efficiency, implementing improvements as required.
- Quality and Safety: Ensure that all care provided meets regulatory standards and aligns with best practices in emergency medicine, prioritising patient safety and quality of care.
- Financial Management: Manage the department's budget effectively, identifying areas for cost-saving and ensuring financial sustainability.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS partners, to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of emergency care services.
- Strategic Development: Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the Emergency Department, supporting innovation and service improvement initiatives.
