An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 7 specialist nurse within the Rotherham Specialist Palliative Care team. The post is designed to provide specialist palliative care knowledge and support to patients, carers and health and social care professionals. The multi-disciplinary team is forever developing and is committed to providing gold standard care to patients within the hospital setting. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner whilst working as part of the Specialist Palliative Care and with the wider Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) The post holder e will provide high quality specialist palliative care (direct and indirect) and advice to patients, carers and professionals in line with national and local guidance Clinical leadership and support will be provided by the Palliative care Consultant, Lead Nurse for palliative care and deputy Chief Nurse.

Experience

Essential

• Experience of working at Senior Level
• Specialist palliative care/oncology experience at senior level
• Experience of attending and presenting patients at MDT

Desirable

• Experience of supporting patients with an uncertain outcome

• IT literate
• Teaching and presentation skills
• Organisations skills
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of palliative care symptom management and experience using medications commonly used within palliative care

• Knowledge of treating Oncological Emergencies and complex symptom management

Registration

• Registered General Nurse

Qualifications

Essential

• Undertaken education at Masters Level 7
• Evidence of continued professional development
• Advanced Communications Skills Training or prepared to work towards

• Either NMP or APACs trained and willingness to continue relevant courses at Level 7
• Post-basic qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant subject or working towards
• Clinical Psychology Level 2
