An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Healthcare Scientist - Quality Lead to join the Immunology laboratory at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS FT.

Our Consultant Immunologist lead service is one of the largest in the U.K. The laboratory offers a comprehensive and expanding Immunology service including autoimmune serology, allergy, immunochemistry, cellular immunology and is a Regional centre for Immunodeficiency.

This is a key role with a strong focus on Quality, resilience and innovation. With support from the Laboratory Manager and Senior Scientific team you will ensure our continued accreditation to ISO 15189. You will also apply modern methods of quality management and process control to ensure an effective Immunology service in terms of clinical governance and risk management.

To apply you must be an HCPC registered Healthcare (Clinical or Biomedical) Scientist with FIBMS, Immunology MSc, IBMS HSD or equivalent. A Quality Management qualification is desirable.

You will have considerable practical experience in laboratory Immunology from a senior scientific role, in addition to an understanding and proven success in statistical evaluation of analytical methods. Extensive experience of working to a comprehensive Quality Management System is expected.

You will be expected to participate in shift system to cover service provision Monday - Saturday 08:00 - 18:00

Main duties of the job

Responsible as lead Healthcare Scientist for a specialist areaPractice as the Quality Lead for Immunology, promoting Quality within all areas of the Department.Demonstrate expertise in quality and risk management.Be the key member of the department, who promotes, implements, audits and maintains the quality management system.Apply modern methods of quality management and process control to ensure an effective service in terms of clinical governance and risk management.Ensure the continued compliance to ISO 15189 as accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).Lead team to ensure the continuous improvement and development of laboratory services Maintain and promote professional image of CUH Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Honours degree in relevant discipline
  • Registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as Clinical or Biomedical Scientist.
  • MSc, IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or FIBMS in Immunology or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Evidence of Continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Holds or working towards a qualification that supports quality management responsibilities associated with post

  • Practical experience of Quality Management Systems
