An exciting opportunity has become available for a Breast Screening Planning and Workflow Manager to join the Breast Screening team here at the Norfolk and Norwich Breast Department. The post-holder will be based within the admin offices that are located within the static Breast Screening Unit within the Norwich Community Hospital and will be responsible for managing a team of six part-time breast screening clerical officers. We are looking to recruit a conscientious, self-motivated, and passionate individual preferably with experience of working in the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
Applicants are required to hold a level 5 Business and Management qualification (or equivalent) or significant experience of working in the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
Main duties of the job
Our friendly and dynamic Breast Imaging Department is part of the QSI Accredited Radiology Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, being 1 in 23 Trusts in the UK who have this accreditation.
The Breast Imaging Department is based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) which is a state-of-the-art acute hospital trust on the outskirts of Norwich City. Providing both a symptomatic and NHS breast screening service. We are a progressive department and aim to always be at the forefront of breast imaging developments.
The Breast unit embraces the four-tier structure with Assistant Practitioners, Specialist Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners and Consultant Radiographers all being valuable members of our team.
Breast Screening is based nearer Norwich city center at the Norwich Community Hospital in a static unit accommodating offices and screening facilities including two Mammography rooms. In addition, there is a static screening unit on the coast in Cromer District Hospital, and two mobile screening vans that cover all picturesque rural Norfolk. Around 30,000 women are invited for screening each year across the two static sites and 15 mobile screening van sites.
There is free onsite parking. Office hours with no evening or weekend working and you will have the chance to work autonomously, within guidance, to ensure efficient administration of the NHS BreastScreening Programme.
Part time: 29 hours per week

Overview of Essential Responsibilities:
1. Promote a shared vision and culture within the Breast Screening Service based on a collaborative approach to the delivery of services that incorporates the requirement of patients, service users and stakeholders.
2. To suggest, develop and implement policies for service development and improvement.
Operational Responsibilities
1. Work autonomously and be responsible for the production of the screening round plan for producing forecast activity, planning, managing and maintaining the Norwich Breast Screening Service round plan. Daily management of the plan and to use corrective measures to adjust round plan when necessary to ensure national 36month recall target is met. To be able to analyse population forecasts to adequately plan. Ensure that national, regional and local screening performance targets are met and that the breast screening programme is delivered in a timely manner.
2. Locate and set up new screening sites when required, sometimes at short notice, liaising to fulfil any requirements imposed by the host. Ensure correct installation of electrical supply point and access for screening van.
3. Responsible for movement of screening vans to correct locations in liaison with transport provider.
4. Demonstrate effective decision making on a daily basis to deal with a variety of routine and non-routine issues and problems.
Line Management/Financial Management Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the line management and the HR management of the administration team, including recruitment process, provision of job description, induction, skill mix/training plans, absence management. Ensure all necessary documentation is completed in a timely manner and ensure entries on Trac and ESR are made.
2. To undertake staff annual appraisals in line with Trust policies, promote and assist with continuing professional development of all administration and clerical staff. To be responsible for ensuring Trust mandatory training is up to date.
3. Ensure all necessary documentation is completed in a timely manner.
