THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE
The Satellite Welshpool Renal Unit is a diverse department, caring for patients with Renal Failure from the pre-dialysis, to maintenance dialysis, conservative management, end of life care and supporting patients through transplantation. The department also provides support to patients whom develop acute renal failure. The role of the staff nurse within the department is diverse and you will be afforded the opportunity to care for patients undergoing dialysis in 3 main locations, on the dialysis unit, on our renal ward and within the critical care setting.
The approach for caring for patients undergoing dialysis is truly multidisciplinary, you will be working closely with doctors, specialist nurses, dieticians, social worker, psychologist and the pharmacy department to deliver a high quality continuous care to the patients within the department.
We are currently providing dialysis to 24 haemodialysis patients, the department will be moving to a 6 day service to accommodate capacity open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 06:30 to18:30 and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning, you will be required to support the service during this period. You will be expected for care for the patients whilst undergoing haemodialysis and support the holistic care of the patients, you will also support the multidisciplinary team meeting and be responsible for the long term care of a name group of patients.

- The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of haemodialysis patients and their families.
- The post holder will assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
- The post holder will be expected to develop their knowledge and skills in renal nursing by working with the various renal specialist nurses and the other renal ward nurses.
