We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Neurofibromatosis Specialist Adviser. We are looking for a caring specialist nurse, with experience of working with neurofibromatosis type 1 and type 2, to work with individuals and families affected by these conditions in the West Midlands.

Main duties of the job

The role is focused on providing support, information and advice for individuals and families with (or at risk of) neurofibromatosis.

The post holder will work alongside the existing NF Specialist Adviser and work closely with the Consultant Clinical Geneticists specialising in these conditions.

The post will be based at Birmingham Women's Hospital but appointments will take place in a combination of clinic venues, schools and patients' homes and flexibility to travel to these will be a vital part of the role.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Relevant post registration qualifications or an ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge relating to Neurofibromatosis and its management.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of working as a nurse for several years, with Specialist Nurse experience
  • Community Experience
