We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the Stroke SLT inpatient team at Nottingham University Hospitals. The post will allow the post holder to develop and consolidate knowledge and skills working with this client group. The will be the opportunity to development leadership skills, to become involved in projects and innovations on the Stroke unit. There will also be opportunities to develop advanced skills in communication and dysphagia management skills, including videofluoroscopy and FEES.
We are a friendly and supportive team with high level of clinical expertise. You will be well supported by band 7 SLTs and Clinical Specialist SLT. There is excellent interdisciplinary working with the therapies team and strong links with the wider MDT and community SLT services. There will be opportunities to also get involved in projects , task and finish groups within the SLT service, and delivering training.
This is a permanent full-time post in this team and is not part of the rotation programme.
Main duties of the job
To independently manage, triage and prioritise own caseload providing specialist SLT assessment, formulation, diagnosis, intervention and advice based on evidence based practice for people with communication and/or swallowing difficulties, their families, carers, support staff and professionals.
There will be opportunities to develop and delivery training and supervise and support band 5 and assistant Speech & Language Therapists.

About us
Nottingham University Hospital Trust is a large teaching hospital, across 2 sites: Queens Medical Centre and City Hospital.
The Speech & Language Therapist Service works across both sites, working alongside a separate ENT service. We work across a very broad range of acute specialties including Healthcare of the Older Person, Respiratory, and Critical Care.
NUH host a number of regional services including Neurosciences unit, Major Trauma Centre, a comprehensive Stroke unit, Trent Cardiac Centre, Burns Unit and Upper GI services. We also have SLTs within the Neuro-rehabilitation unit, the MDT neuro-rehabilitation outpatient services, and an SLT service for Neurology outpatients.
