Are you a current band 6 dietitian working within the specialist adult dietetic south services within MPFT? Have you been working within the team for more than a year and do you feel ready for a new opportunity?
Following partial retirement of our current lead weight management/ diabetes dietitian we are looking to upgrade one of our current band 6 roles to an Advanced Diabetes/ Weight Management Dietitian.
Interviews will be held via Microsoft Teams.
Main duties of the job
This advanced role will share the lead for the adult weight management/ diabetes service improving outcomes and quality of care for this patient group. This advanced role would be suitable for someone with extensive clinical experience at a band 6 level already supporting this patient group.

1. To adhere to and apply the Health and Care Professions Councils (HCPC) standards of proficiency and the British Dietetic Association (BDA) code of ethics and professional conduct and all other relevant guidance from the HCPC and the Partnership Trust. To be professionally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work
2. To establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the Partnership Trust and with external organisations in order to meet service requirements and support and demonstrate the Trusts equality values.
3. To undertake comprehensive/advanced assessments of patients, including those with complex needs, using investigative and analytical skills to formulate individual management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range of treatment options to formulate a specialised programme of care.
4. To deliver specialist clinical interventions including insulin pump therapy and carbohydrate counting interventions
5. To take a lead in specialist area/complex caseload and providing advice and support to others. The specialist care/support plans may include the following:
Promoting independence/self-management and maintaining safety
Increased functional ability
Improvement in health and wellbeing including mental health
Interventions in disease/condition management
Prevention and reducing of health inequalities
Admission avoidance
Case management/ treatment /care plans
Palliative and end of life care

Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent.
- Post Graduate BDA accredited courses in dietetics such as PENG, Diabetes, Obesity Management or equivalent.
- Registration with HCPC
- Registration with the BDA
- Modules at Masters Level that equates to at least half a Masters qualification
- Post qualification courses/training in area of specialism and/or leadership
- Up to date field work/pre-registration student training
Desirable
- Masters qualification in relevant area that will support the delivery of the service
- Further clinical study relevant to clinical practice such as life limiting conditions and complex long term conditions management
- Specific Type 1 and 2 Diabetes Group Education courses such as BERTIE/DESMOND/DAFNE
- Attendance at relevant Special Interest Groups Meetings
- Knowledge of Specialist Interest Group developments
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience in the clinical specialism including assessment and management of specialist dietetic interventions in long term conditions and disease
- Ability to manage time and caseload effectively
- Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with clinical conditions and disability through diet and lifestyle such as in the treatment and prevention of malnutrition and obesity its related comorbidities
- Working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of negotiation and conflict management and in clinical situations
- Experience of leading clinical audit in specialism
