To provide intensive specialist mental health assessment and treatment for young people and their families, carers referred to the CAMHS eating disorder service with severe eating disorders and clinical complexity, in accordance with national and local priorities, clinical guidelines and responsive to the needs and views of local children, young people and their families.
To provide a time flexible service between the hours of 8am and 8pm.
To work as an integral part of the team in both clinical discussion and service delivery, and in the implementation and evaluation of specific care plans.
Main duties of the job
To assess young people who present with complex eating and associated disorders to enable early community interventions, and interventions to ensure timely and safe discharge for inpatients.To interpret risk and need, and implement appropriate interventions ie: embarking on a treatment programme whilst assessing and managing risk, ensuring advanced initiatives for clients with eating disorders are aimed at standardising practices within CAMHS, promoting good practice and NICE guidance compliance.To manage a case load of client with severe eating disorders and demonstrate skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management.To organise own workload with the support and supervision of the team lead /Consultant Psychiatrist, and in liaison with other team members.To provide clinical supervision to other staff and trainees in the team in relation to eating disorders. Offer support and peer guidance to fellow team members and wider CAMHS clinical staff as and when required to do so.To interpret, formulate and implement care plans for formal psychological treatment and management of clients with complex eating disorders, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework, and employing methods based upon evidence of proven efficacy and using an integration of theoretical frameworks to formulate practice.
