HMP Bedford is a Category B prison for adult males over the age of 18 years. It is a local and remand prison with a population capacity of 380. The Practice and Performance Manager will be responsible for the day to day supervision of the administration team for HMP Bedford and oversee the admin function. They will also be responsible for ensuring the prison is compliant with collecting and submitting performance indicators in line with the National Health and Justice Indicators of Performance (HJIP's) and monthly Quality Schedule.
The team at HMP Bedford work in collaboration with partner organisations and other providers to improve continuity of care of patients who move from the community into prison and back to the community. We have strong links with police custody to improve incoming information flow and use both an enhanced clinical pathway for patients with problematic substance use and telemedicine appointments with link workers to pave the way for patients to be safely released back into the community.

NHFT offer a full range of healthcare services delivered by a professional, multidisciplinary, friendly team.
These include primary healthcare (medical, nursing and pharmacy), primary and secondary mental health, clinical and psychosocial substance misuse, physiotherapy, podiatry and optometry. We have a highly skilled nursing team including non-medical prescribers. The healthcare department also benefits from having an inpatient unit which provides 24 hour nursing care.

Main duties of the job
- Managing the clinical systems and associated software.
- To provide high quality information and analytical support to HMP HMP/IRC.
- To undertake, maintain and develop regular and ad hoc reports using SystmOne and any other reporting software.
- To assist the Head of Healthcare in the interpretation of client's information requirements and the development and maintenance of appropriate reporting solutions.
- Interrogate a range of data sources to enable analysis, manipulation and reporting of relevant data.
- To support validation and data quality standards within the Trust, raising any data quality issues with the relevant Head of Healthcare.
- To liaise effectively with IT and any relevant external parties on infrastructure, reporting and data-related issues when required.
- Ensure that National and Local confidentiality and security considerations are met e.g. anonymization of patient or staff data, use of secure data transfer methods.
- To be aware of and comply with departmental procedures.
- When requested to present reports or data to NHS England, Commissioners and Clinical Governance meetings as required by the Head of Healthcare.
- Overseeing the clinical system to ensure accurate data entry and retrieval through searches.
- Reporting regularly to the Head of Healthcare with achievement and progress.
- Liaising with the relevant service provider, e.g. NEL or NHS England as required.
