Main duties of the job
At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors. We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction under the supervision of a more senior Occupational Therapist. An integral part of this role will be supervising others, with a focus on supporting student education within the team. This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework.

Job responsibilities
We are currently recruiting for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist at Cygnet Aspen Clinic.
Cygnet Aspen Clinic is a specialist service for women with a diagnosis of personality disorder and associated complex needs. We provide assessment, stabilisation, treatment and rehabilitation for up to 16 women.
Our service users may have complex trauma histories or have experienced regular placement breakdowns. At Cygnet Aspen Clinic we provide a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to care and treatment with a focus on recovery and co-production with service users.
This role will involve working contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy department at the hospital. You will be required to provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs, to promote the importance of enabling people to do the things they want, need or are expected to do to support them being well in life.
The successful candidate will receive supervision from a senior Occupational Therapist, as well as support from a Regional Lead Occupational Therapist and Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist. Along with access to a wide network of Occupational Therapists, including a band 5 OT peer support forum.
Post:(Band 5) Occupational Therapist
Salary:£29,544 per annum. (Increase to £31, 865 per annum following successful completion of preceptorship)
Contract: Fixed term maternity cover post (9-12 months), December 2024 start date - with the possibility to extend
Base:Cygnet Aspen Clinic, Manvers Road, Mexborough, Doncaster, S64 9EX.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will
- Hold a caseload and utilise effective clinical decision-making and clinical skills to assess, implement and evaluate care
- Complete full assessments of patients occupational performance including areas of self-care, productivity and leisure
- Implement specialist group and individual treatments to achieve therapeutic goals
- Complete all necessary clinical documentation in accordance with the company and professional standards.
- Be a source of professional advice relating to Occupational Therapy, to provide advice to individuals in our care, to carers and colleagues as appropriate.
- To deliver an occupational focussed service, providing evidence based practice with recognised measurable outcomes to evaluate the value and impact of occupational therapy.
- Support/ lead the supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, reporting relevant issues to Service Manager and Senior OT, including sickness monitoring and time management.
The Successful Candidate should be/have:
- An awareness and understanding of different mental health conditions
- Experience of facilitating groups and activities
- Able to work independently
- Effective communication skills, good organisations skills and a positive attitude
- An Occupational Therapy degree and registration with HCPC
