This is a 28 bedded surgical ward delivering high quality care to general surgical and gynaecological patients.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with experience at band 5.

With excellent communication skills, team working skills and some experience in leading a team to join our busy ward.

Our nursing team is focused on the six C's so we aim to deliver high quality, compassionate care to our patients and carers.

Main duties of the job

The role of the band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse is to support, contribute to and assist the Senior Sister in the leadership and the management of the Ward/ unit team and to support the Senior Sister in the development, monitoring and implementation of high quality, evidence-based clinical care to ensure continuity of service provision and standards are maintained and improved.

Qualifications

Essential

• Current first level registration in General / Adult nursing
• ENB (English National Board) 998/ mentorship or equivalent

Desirable

• Evidence of higher education ie Degree, Diploma etc.

Experience

Essential

• Experience as a staff nurse within the specialty area
• Experience of designing and delivering education to junior staff
• Experience of using a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care

• Experience in implementing improvements in practice/protocol or procedures
